Happy Easter

Dear Family and Friends!
Happy Easter!  Remember what our Savior did for you this week especially, it truly is amazing!
This week was pretty good!  I can’t complain too much! It wasn’t too hot and we worked a ton!
I learned about the power of sharing your testimony this week.  While we were contacting one day we ran into an Evangelical Pastor who started attacking many of the beliefs of the church and while we tried defending ourselves with reasonable reason, he refused to reason.  I was getting frustrated and then I suddenly got the impression to share my testimony with him.  So I took a deep breath, and said that we came to his house to invite, not to convince or argue, and then I said that by the power of the Holy Ghost that I knew that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that the Book of Mormon, along with the Bible, are the words of God, and that it is by walking the path that he has marked and no other path will we be able to return to live with him.  And then he went quiet, and from that point on in the conversation didn’t attack any of our beliefs, but rather talked about the good things that his church does.  But for me it was super cool, to see how a simple, sincere testimony can change everything, and that no matter how much someone may disagree with what we teach, they can’t fight the power of a testimony, no matter how much they try.
I also gained a tesimony about eating fruit!  It’s good for you!  If you eat fruit in the morning, you feel better throughout the day!  Do it!
Also, last week during our P-day I realized that I’m still learning to play soccer!  We rented some soccer fields and were playing with the other zone and there’s always been a move that I’ve seen people do and have always wanted to do it, and all of the sudden I was in a situation where I needed to do it!  So I tried it not even thinking it was going to work and it did!  But then I didn’t know what to do afterward!  So I still need to learn more, but that was progress!
Share the gospel this week!  The church is true!

New Investigators!

Dear Family and Friends!
This week has been a pretty good week.  A little bit hot, but a good week!  I guess summer decided it wasn’t going to go out without a fight!  But we did find 2 new investigators that are pretty cool!
The first is named Brian, and he’s 18.  He was a contact from a tsunami that we recontacted.  He has about 2 weeks living in Comodoro, he had recently moved from Trelew.  He recently also started to be interested in religion and he didn’t understand why there are so many churches if there was only one God.  So we explained the Restoration focusing on prophets and the priesthood and he understood really well and the Spirit was super strong.  He accepted the Book of Mormon and was super excited for us to come back. And he excepted his fecha without any problems at all.  The only problem is that he’s 18 and never home and hard to find, but we’ll be working hard to find him!
The other new investigator that we found is named Luisa and when we got into her house she explained that she had talked to missionaries before, but they had stopped coming to her house.  But she had a lot of questions and told us that she was looking for God’s true church because she knew that there could only be one.  So we talked about the Restoration and it was going super good and then all of the sudden all her children and grandchildren showed up at the same time and ruined the Spirit, and she was like, “I have to go.”  But she also asked us to leave something in the Book of Mormon for her to read and pray about and then we would talk about it the next week (she set the date for us to come back and everything, and did all that without us even mentioning it!)  It was super cool!
Other than that this week has been tranquilo.  We did some service in an old folks home, so that was fun!  Although half of them either didn’t want to talk to mormons, coudn’t hear me, or didn’t understand my accent!  But other than those guys it was a fun service project!
I hope that you all have a fantastic week!  Share the gospel with someone!  And the new Easter video from the church!  #Hallelujah!

March?!

Dear Family and Friends!
It’s already March!  I can’t believe it!  I feel like Christmas was just yesterday! But now we’re in March!  And I still write 2015 in my journal sometimes!  Time is flying!  I feel more old every day! For the Zone Conference we had with President Rogers this week, I was one of the most experienced missionaries so I didn’t have to do the practices, all the missionaries had to practice on me!  That was really weird!

This week in Ward Counsel we were talking about how we could help our investigators and one of the members said to take his mom with him because she likes to visit and talk to people and is friends with everyone.  So one evening we went to go and talk to her about visiting a couple of our investigators with her.  So we got into her house, sat down, and started to talk and somebody knocked.  So she went out and it was one of our investigators that we wanted to have her befriend!  So we talked to both of them for a while and the investigator was like, “How are you like you?  I want to be like you!  You’re always so happy and friendly, what is it about you?  How can I be like you?”  It was perfect!  We started talking about the gospel a little bit and what’s keeping her from baptism, but it was fantastic!  Things are going in the right way with her!

Also this week, we talked to a hippie.  Hippies are fun to talk to:)  This one told us lots of funny things.  Like for instance the reason that the world is flooding is because of the Panama Canal.  I guess that all the boats we are putting in the ocean is causing it to overfill, so if we are going to put more boats in the water, we needs to take rocks out of the ocean to make more room:)  Also someone is trying to destroy the pyramids of Mexico (he didn’t clarify who) because they are evidence that the Egyptians were a worldwide empire (:  Also we need to start putting satellites on top of mountains and not in outer space because when they fall from the sky they create giant tsunamis that destroy Japan (:  So yeah, it was an interesting half of an hour I spend standing on a corner of a street in Maximo Abasolo.  We even tried escaping, but he would move to block our paths!  It was interesting!
I hope that you all have a fantastic week!

Summers Ending

Dear Family and Friends,

This week has been a pretty good week!  Summer is starting to come to it’s end here in Comodoro, it’s not nearly as hot, it’s raining a lot more, it’s getting darker earlier, and it’s cold in the mornings! It’s fantastic!  I don’t have to worry about the heat anymore (hopefully, that is it better not get hot again) until August (¿Qué?)!
This week has been a really good week!  We’ll start with the big highlight!  This week Elder Bednar came to Buenos Aires and was doing a lot of training and stuff with church leaders and members and at the last minute he decided to do a broadcast training to all the missionaries in the South America South Area!  He started off telling us that, according to his calculations, 8% of all the missionaries in the world were participating in this training, which is guess is a historic size (minus the worldwide training we had a couple of weeks ago:)).  He talked a lot about agency, and how we need to be agents (which act), and not objects (which are acted upon).  We need to grow, we need to be obedient, we need to choose to live the gospel and preach it to all people.  Part of that is that we need to have faith.  And faith requires action.  We need to do more than just get on our knees and pray for miracles, pray for testimonies, pray for people to come to church, we need to go out and work so that miracles can happen, we need to study the scriptures and live the gospel so we can obtain a testimony, and go out and find the people and bring them to church.  And not only do we have to do that, but we need to help all of the people that we work with be agents as well.  We need to help them act, to read, pray, attend church, obtain a testimony, and to get baptized. Because if we baptize “objects” then they won’t be converted to the gospel.
Oh, and Elder Bednar only knows a couple of words in Spanish, so he had a translator, but he would occasionally throw in a Spanish word or two.  So the first time he did it he said something like “In this meeting, it’s not going to be me teaching, but the Espíritu Santo” so when the translator translated it he said “En esta reunión, yo no les voy a enseñar, sino que el Holy Ghost.”  And then Elder Bednar started talking, realized what the translator had said, stopped, started laughing, and then gave the translator a fist bump!  How sweet would that be to fist bump an apostle!
We also had a couple of cool experiences working this week!  The first was with a new investigator named Fabian!  We passed by his house and at first it didn’t seem like he was going to let us in, but in the end he did and we taught the Restoration and he accepted it all really well! And in his final prayer he prayed to know if what we taught was true!  But sincerely!  It was way cool!  That doesn’t happen very much!  Unfortunately he works in the outside of the city 7 days, and then has a 7 day break, so we weren’t able to visit him again and he wasn’t able to go to church.  But this week we’ll pass by!
We also found a recent convert that we didn’t know existed doing visits with a member.  I guess he got baptized a couple of months ago, but kind of just disappeared.  I had never heard of him. So we went by and found him and found out that he had started to work outside of the city on a farm and came back to his house like once a month.  And it just so happens that we passed by the very day he was home:)  Coincidence?  I think not!
I hope that you all have a fantastic week!  Share the gospel with somebody!

Aún mas viento!

Dear Family and Friends,

I know that every week I start off the email commenting about the weather, and recently about the wind, but this week was really windy!  I’m talking Saturday made it on the top 3 windiest days of my life list!  It was a constant 50-60 mph winds all day long!  There was so much dirt in the air! And it was hot so I was a sweaty and I turned into a milenesa (an Argentine food where you coat meat in bread crumbs and provensal (I don’t know what that is in English)).  It took some pictures of that day though and then a couple days later to show how much dirt was in the air!
So yesterday and today in the morning, we’ve been contacted by several drunks.  I’m not kidding, I’ve never seen so many drunks on the streets before this weekend.  We finished talking to one and two minutes later another one stops us and starts talking to us!  One guy was so drunk that he dropped his cigarette twice.  The best part was that it wasn’t lit!  He was smoking his unlit cigarette for like 5 minutes!  It was funny!
Oh yeah, my birthday was this week too!  I’m 20!  It’s so weird to say that to people!  I’m not a teenager anymore!  It’s really weird!
Other than that there wasn’t a whole lot that happened this week!  Just a lot of missionary work!
I hope that you all have a fantastic week!

Look at the air quality on the wind day compared to a calm day!
